Shaving is an important part of every man’s life.  We get up early in the morning and most of us simply shave before going to work to look and feel cleaner.  However, it is surprising the amount of men that just can’t shave the right way.  They end up with cuts, nicks and the skin damaged.  This can be avoided by improving your technique and by using some good products.

Let’s take a look at the products you must have for a good shaving experience.

Shaving cream.  A good men’s shaving cream can be your best aid to avoid nicks and cuts.  Most men just use shaving foams bought in supermarkets, but they are not really the best option. A good cream must help the razor glide and at the same time provide the skin with extra protection and nutrients.

Razor.  I have found that 3-blade razors are the best for the job.  4 blades? Too much, as a matter of fact I have experienced some “accidents” with these blades. On the other hand more simple razors tend to just prolong the shaving process.  Be sure to replace your blade once a week for optimum results.

Moisturizer.  A moisturizer will replenish your skin’s natural moisture, which is affected by the constant passing of the razor blade.  This step is often overlooked, yet it is extremely important to avoid dry skin and premature aging.

Once you have the right products at your disposition, it is time to learn more about a good shaving process. Here are some useful tips.

-          Always start by cleaning your face. A face scrub can be of great help.  I personally use the Nivea for Men Sensitive Face Wash. Use warm water to open up the pores.

-          Avoid passing the razor blade over the same area more than 3 times to avoid damage.

-          Shave always with the grain and only once against the grain for a close shaving.

-          Let the shaving cream work for a minute before starting to shave.  This will make sure the facial hair is softened enough to come out quickly.

-          Avoid alcohol-based after shave products.  They can end up producing more redness and irritation.
