Make a Travel Clothing Repair Kit

If you have ever had a busted zipper or had the hem come undone on a skirt or pants leg, then you know how miserable you feel the rest of the day. There are many ways to keep your look firmly together in times of crisis and they are all very affordable and very easy to find. Work and socializing are stressful enough without worrying about a fashion disaster!

A basic repair kit should start with a roll of strapless bra tape. This two-sided tape was developed to keep a bra from slipping down, but it does so much more! Because it is safe to use on both skin and fabric it can be pressed in a seam to fix a hem that has come loose. It can also be used on the button placket area to keep gaps from showing or to keep a blouse secure if a button pops loose. On lighter fabrics it may even be used to fix a cuff that has come undone. It is very inexpensive and easy to store in a glove box or purse.

Safety pins are an absolute must. These pins once fastened are incredibly strong. The larger ones can penetrate leather and are great for temporarily fixing a purse strap or gym bag strap. Smaller ones can tack hems, replace a missing fly button, and keep bra straps in place to make a bra invisible. A small box of random sized safety pins can be purchased for around a dollar.

Tiny staplers are also a good way to fix a dropped seam or a section of fabric that has come detached. Almost anyone can use this method to perform a quick repair on fabric to get them through the day.

Everything mentioned above can be purchased for less than $10 and you probably have some of them already on hand. Don’t put off staying prepared. This type of clothing repair kit is easy to use and store and it may save you from an embarrassing situation!
